Introducing: TRASC System for C-130 Aircraft

We’ve teamed up with UltiSat, R4 and SelectTech Geospatial to deliver the best-in-class, commercial-off-the-shelf solution designed specifically with C-130 military transport aircraft in mind.

With our powers combined, we introduce to you the Tactical Removable Airborne Satellite Communications (TRASC) system, now available for viewing in booth #1336 at the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference (SOFIC) in Tampa, Florida.

TRASC is made possible in part to UltiSat’s multi-band, 18-inch parabolic Ku/Ka dual band antenna; SelectTech’s roll-on roll-off transit case that’s integrated with our 9800 AR Satellite Router; and to complete the picture, R4’s C-130 hatch or wing shoulder panel, which is based on a U.S. Air Force and FAA-approved design for a multi-purpose hatch system.

To make it fit for military and government use, you can rest assured that your information is safe. With our 9800 AR, the TRASC system meets the highest levels of transmission security (TRANSEC) as it passes the test for Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2 Level 3 certification.

Not only is it secure, it’s fast. Thanks to our latest software release, Evolution 4.2, the TRASC system supports high data rates – even while you’re flying as fast as 1,000 mph. It also meets some pretty rigorous environmental test standards, including MIL-STD 810G, MIL-STD 461G, MIL-STD 704F and DO-160G.

What makes this solution so unique sits with UltiSat’s unique parabolic antenna. This antenna easily supports both military and commercial Ka frequencies, and works with various Ka-, Ku-, X-band or a combination of these to support voice and data for C-130 airborne applications. The delivery of high throughput and transportable communications-on-the-move allows for streaming high definition video during flight. Not only that, their antenna boasts ideal size, weight and power (SWaP) thanks to its lightweight and robust carbon fiber composite frame and high data rates making it even more ideal for military and government use.

It’s also fully FAA-compliant, works with all C-130 variations and is, of course, compatible with existing iDirect Government hub-based SATCOM networks.

Are you ready to see it first-hand? (Of course!) Are you at SOFIC? (We hope so!) Put down the blog and head on over to booth #1336 now – you’ve got until May 24 to view it and speak to a member of our sales team.
